....When you have taken on the responsibility for the life of a pet, they become a member of the family. Whether they are furred or feathered, you worry when they are ill, you make rush visits to the vet. They cannot tell you where it hurts or what is wrong. You try to assure that they eat properly and worry when you are not there. ....There are times you have to leave them. You try to find the best person you can to watch over them. Someone who cares that they will have the least amount of stress while you are away. Someone who will understand their needs and will be a surrogate parent until you return. ....When you have a variety of furred/feathered members of the family, it is especially difficult to find an individual you completely trust. A dog, cat or rabbit person may not understand the intricacies of caring for birds, or vice versa. ....Mine is such a "family".
